About North Landing Beach
North Landing is a picturesque cove located on the rugged coastline of Flamborough Head in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Nestled between dramatic white chalk cliffs, it offers a striking contrast to the wide sandy beaches found elsewhere along the Yorkshire coast. Known for its natural beauty and traditional fishing heritage, North Landing is a favourite destination for walkers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts.
The beach itself is expansive, with soft golden sand that stretches for miles along the coastline. At low tide, the shoreline reveals vast areas of firm sand, ideal for beach games, jogging, or simply strolling while enjoying the fresh sea air. The gentle slope of the beach and the presence of lifeguards during peak seasons make it a popular and safe choice for families with children. Colourful beach huts and chalets line parts of the promenade, adding a nostalgic charm that reflects Bridlington’s Victorian seaside heritage.
The cove itself is small and sheltered, with a mix of sand and pebbles depending on the tide. At low tide, rock pools are revealed along the shoreline, making it an interesting spot for exploring marine life. The surrounding chalk cliffs, shaped by centuries of coastal erosion, provide a spectacular backdrop and are part of the wider Flamborough Headland landscape.
North Landing has long been associated with local fishing. Traditional coble boats can often be seen pulled up onto the shore, maintaining a link to the area’s maritime past. During certain times of the year, fresh seafood may be available from local fishermen, adding to the cove’s authentic coastal character.
